New Nissan Versa 2020 | Specific Review
Although the sedan segment is currently experiencing a decline in sales worldwide, Nissan is not giving up on this segment. The proof is that the original Japanese car manufacturer continues to update its sedan line-up in the United States (US) market. After refreshing the look of the Maxima and launching the latest generation Altima, Nissan is now introducing the third generation of Versa in the US. Stranger with that name? Nissan Indonesia once sold the Versa under the name Latio around 2006 with a body style hatchback and sedan. Well, in the US Nissan Versa only comes with a four-door sedan model and enters the mini sedan segment. If this car is marketed again in Indonesia, it will fight with Honda City and Toyota Vios.
The third generation Versa comes with an exterior design that looks more aggressive than the previous geeky generation. At first glance, the Versa 2020 looks similar to the last generation Nissan Altima. And if we look more closely, Versa actually comes with a design that is completely different from the Altima. The new Versa headlights come with LED Daytime Running Lights which form a boomerang. The main lights also use LEDs in the form of dots so that it looks more elegant and luxurious. Typical V-Motion grille of the latest Nissan cars also comes with chrome accents. But the size is not as big as the Altima. Viewed from the side of the Nissan designer gives a unique touch of a floating C pillar alias floating roof. This is unusual for a sedan because floating roofs are usually present in crossovers, SUVs and MPVs.
If the Versa exterior design looks cooler compared to the previous generation, the same thing happened to the cabin at least for the top variant, SR. In this type there are three bars with a flat bottom and a sophisticated instrument panel consisting of a tachometer with a digital display and a speedometer comes with an analog display. In the middle of the cockpit there is an entertainment system that has been integrated with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For the cheapest type, Versa has gotten the remote keyless entry feature, push start button, and power window. Interestingly, consumers can also order this small sedan with a front seat that is equipped with a heating system and automatic climate control system.
For its safety system, Versa also gets the optional Nissan Safety Shield 360 package. The system consists of Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Driver Alertness, Intelligent Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning and High Beam Assist.
Behind the bonnet is a 1,600 cc 4 cylinder engine that gets an upgrade. The mechanical heart is capable of producing 122 hp power and torque of 154 Nm. The engine is paired with the same 5-speed manual transmission as the previous generation. Nissan also provides a selection of CVT gearboxes that have undergone improvements.
